I Heart Faces Contest: Amy Wenzel Workshop

Fabulous photographer Amy Wenzel is kind enough to be giving away a seat at one of her workshops coming up in May. She'd like to know how I love, serve or inspire other people in my life.....

"How do I inspire others?" That's a very difficult question for me to answer. I say that because I have never had someone tell me that I inspire them. I would be so honored to receive a compliment like that! So, what can I say? I can tell you this...being able to attend the workshop would be a dream come true to me. I bought my SLR camera almost exactly a year ago this week. I bought it for the sole purpose of taking some nice photos for my daughter's first birthday party. Although I was always interested in photography, I never pursued it. Life got in the way. Now, it's become my life. And I love it. I love the moments I capture and then seeing the smiles or happy tears that it brings to people when they look at a photo that I took. When I bought that camera, I had a lot of guilt. We were on a tight budget- well, we're always on a tight budget...but who isn't these days?! Did I really need it? No. Could I have put the money to better use? Maybe at the time....BUT, that camera did more than help me get some good pics at the party. It gave me creativity, a sense of purpose, and a zest for life back. So, to answer that last question again-could I have put the money to better use? No. I think it was probably one of the best things I ever bought. I feel like I'm a better wife, mother, daughter, sister, cousin, auntie and so on because of it. All this being said, I've been dreaming of going back to school and taking photography classes. I have to be a grown up right now and go the responsible route and take care of things at home, trying to be the best wife and mother that I can be. My family comes first, so my little dreams and hobbies have to wait. That's why given the opportunity to attend this workshop would mean so much to me. It would help me to become better at what I love to do and more importantly inspire me to inspire others :-)

My two biggest inspirations...
